What it's like to work with me.
"Working with Djahane helped me create a new relationship to time."
Working with Djahane helped me create a new relationship to time. Her methods have allowed me to feel more empowered in making decisions about how I schedule my time, rather than feeling trapped by an impossible schedule. I feel more organized, am getting better at prioritizing, and I have more mental space to make longer-term plans and goals.
—Mindi Schneider, Assistant Professor, International Institute of Social Studies.
Djahane rescued me from a hopelessly spinning whirl of ideas that never progressed and channeled me toward what I actually wanted.

"I only wish I had consulted with her years ago."
My work with Djahane has been invaluable. Before her help, my life was disorganized and unwieldy. She approached my struggles with kindness and insight, and helped me find a new way to approach the challenges of my busy, three kids, full-time job life. Together, we designed my hours, days, weeks, and months to be both more peaceful and productive. Perhaps most importantly, she helped me make real, tangible progress on the book I'd been trying to write for ten years. I only wish I had consulted with her years ago.

“Getting aligned was the best choice I could have made!”
Djahane helped me to see myself clearly and articulate my goals. I’m a pretty self-aware person, but Djahane helped bring my life into focus. With her uniquely perceptive, precise coaching, and her amazing method, I moved from feeling barely on top of my obligations to directing and shaping my own priorities and career path. Getting aligned was the best choice I could have made!

"I moved from feeling barely on top of my obligations to directing and shaping my priorities and career path."
Djahane helped me to see myself and articulate my goals much more clearly than I would have ever been able to do alone. With her perceptive, precise coaching, I moved from feeling barely on top of my obligations to directing and shaping my priorities and career path.

“Djahane has opened the door for me to a whole new way of thinking.”
Djahane has given me the tools and techniques I needed to profoundly change the way I work. She has guided me to the place where my deepest work can happen and helped me to see where I was wasting important time and energy. As a mother and entrepreneur, Djahane has been an invaluable resource to me, helping me to manage my most precious asset, time. She has given me the courage to make bold decisions in how I run my business and the confidence to follow a path true to myself. Initially, I was reluctant to let her new and unfamiliar ideas disrupt my deeply entrenched work and life habits. I am, however, so thankful that I did! Djahane has opened the door for me to a whole new way of thinking.

"I now have clearer short term goals in place as stepping stones to a longer term aim."
Working with Djahane has put the focus back on my career and the choices I am making about how I use my own time, while balancing against the other academic career in the household and keeping our young family in one location. By switching the approach to plan for what I would aspire to, and then working backwards to accommodate my family I now have clearer short term goals in place as stepping stones to a longer term aim. Djahane's practice has brought a sense of clarity back to my days, despite my frequent need to move between tasks in response to the demands of life.

“She is flexible, succinct and alive in her thinking.”
Djahane is an excellent coach. She is always clear, attentive and compassionate. She is right there with me in our sessions, and I can feel it and I can see the results. She has the wonderful capability of looking at matters from many different angles. She is flexible, succinct and alive in her thinking. She is comfortable with my not knowing what to do next and does not take on more responsibility for the process than I do. I really felt like I had something between a professor and a cheerleader working with me, which was fantastic. She showed me how to achieve what I wanted, and rooted for me as I did it!
"After working with Djahane, I am able to calmly put one foot in front of the other instead of being overwhelmed."
When I began working with Djahane, I was overwhelmed by juggling the day-to-day aspects of being a mom, facilitating a project that no longer felt like my own, and getting my personal needs met. What did "my personal needs" even mean? Djahane gave me simple tools to help me organize my week, get back in touch with myself and my needs, and keep track of only the "balls in the air" that deserved my attention. She gave me work that teased out the reasons for why my project no longer felt like my own, and she helped me to guide it back to my vision. Now when I think about this work, I am filled with excitement instead of dread, and I am able to calmly put one foot in front of the other instead of being overwhelmed by the many balls I am still actively choosing to juggle.
“Djahane helped me realize that small, meaningful changes can go a long way.”
After having two children I was at a physical low point. I was always exhausted, eating whatever was lying around, and I wasn’t taking the time to exercise. The things that I used to do which “worked” when I found myself not feeling good were out of reach in my new life as a busy mom. Then I met Djahane. She was skilled at helping me pinpoint areas in my life where I could make small changes and then gradually work them into my daily life. I am someone who often falls victim to the “all or nothing” mentality. Djahane helped me realize that small, meaningful changes can go a long way. She helped me recognize and climb those little mountains she talks about! After working with Djahane for ten weeks, I had a number of strategies that were realistic and practical for my life, and I lost a significant amount of weight too. I’m thrilled!

"Djahane helped me get back in touch with who I am, what I want, how I work best, and what I am truly passionate about."
I can be a Chamaeleon of sorts – morphing myself to those around me. Working with Djahane helped me get back in touch with who I am, what I want, how I work best, and what I am truly passionate about. Through working with Djahane, I was able to focus in on why I had lost excitement for my work. Djahane helped me to weed out aspects of my work and personal life that no longer were serving me. She also helped me to identify my strengths and to let go of long held assumptions around my perceived weaknesses. As a result, I started to fully engage with my work on my own terms.
Thanks to my weekly Skype sessions with Djahane I was able to keep my sanity while simultaneously managing 4 projects that needed to be completed on tight deadlines. I could not have done it without her helpful insights and plans of action. Djahane can help keep you on track toward whatever your goal is. 5 stars.

"Working with Djahane ultimately led me to rethink my personal and business goals."
Working with Align Coaching this past fall was insightful and inspiring. As a small business owner, I learned so many valuable skills and took with me clear tools to work with in the future. The process ultimately let me rethink my personal and business goals. I was excited about my work again and gained the courage to make some big changes I had wanted to make for a long time. I continue to use the tools for clarifying my business goals and I translate the knowledge I gained from her into real action on a daily basis. Djahane is wise and kind, and is a wealth of knowledge. It was a pleasure to be able to work with her.

"Thanks Djahane, for teaching me how to design my life and for convincing me that my Ph.D. is an asset, not a detour, on my resume."
I tried for about a year to find a job outside of academia without any success. Then I started working with Djahane, and I realized that I had not only been selling myself the wrong way, but had also been operating with a counter-productive understanding of my situation and the problem at hand. Djahane helped tease out the skills and knowledge I had gained through the study of English Literature. She taught me how to think differently about my career, my skills and the opportunities that came my way. She helped me craft a new narrative about myself as an expert in storytelling. I now work in corporate communications and I love it. And, I'm surprised to say, much of what I learned in graduate school applies directly to my work here. Thanks, Djahane, for teaching me how to design my life and for convincing me that my Ph.D. is an asset, not a detour, on my resume.
"For anyone working in a similarly complex or fast-pace environment, I would encourage you to work with Djahane."
I work in a complex, start-up environment and was struggling for the past few years with seeing the forest for the trees. I felt like my product team, my investors, my potential customers were constantly pulling me in a different direction from what I was reading in entrepreneurship magazines. Once I started working with Djahane, I quickly learned how to take control of my time, how to set my own priorities. What I appreciate most about my work with Djahane is that she didn't give me any answers. Instead, she taught me that I already had all the answers in me. The genius of working with her is that she shows me how to access them. For anyone working in a similarly complex or fast-paced environment, I would encourage you to work with Djahane. Investing an hour of your time per week will pay off exponentially. It certainly did for me.
"Working with Djahane helped me see how I could add value to my organization and to myself."
Being an HR manager at a large pharmaceutical company in Switzerland, I deal with people, their needs, desires and problems, on a daily basis. I thus consider myself to be aware. But I had noticed for a while that I was struggling with motivation issues: it didn't seem like I was having any visible impact on the people I worked with and I was getting less pleasure out of my work than I had in the past. Working with Djahane helped me see how I could add value to my organization and to myself. The best part is that I didn’t have to make any big changes. Applying the Design Thinking Method to my career helped me see that all I required were a few small, yet powerful, adjustments. Now I am energized again and I feel like I'm doing something meaningful at work.
"…she asks questions, really good questions, the kind of questions that are painful to answer and make you regret for a moment signing up for coaching in the first place. But her method works."
I knew pretty quickly after starting my Ph.D. program, that I didn't want to pursue an academic career. But what to do instead? This is where Align Coaching came in. Djahane is not a career counselor. But she asks questions, really good questions, the kind of questions that are painful to answer and make you regret for a moment signing up for coaching in the first place. But her method works. She never recommended I look for a data science job in a start-up. That was my idea. But without her tutelage, I would never have come up with that idea in the first place. Thanks Djahane!
"I have learned to be agile and flexible in my thinking. I have learned to become a problem solver."
Djahane was great. I've worked with so many so-called "business gurus" over my 20 years+ in management. Each of them had their five-step framework for guaranteed success. Most of the time, I learned very little in the end. Working with Djahane, on the other hand, was a profound learning experience for me. She let me do a lot of the talking but asked a lot of astute and pointed questions that forced me to reflect on my habits and process in a way I had never before done. After three months of working with Djahane, I see that there is no such thing as simple framework that can help you solve every professional crisis. Rather I have learned to be agile and flexible in my thinking. I have learned to become a problem solver. I have a fundamentally better sense of what strengths I have and what I can leverage from my immediate environment to have a real impact on business outcomes. I've already signed up to work with her again during an expansion to a new market later this year. She doesn’t know the ins and outs of my company's product portfolio, but that doesn't matter. I know all about it. She helps me make good use of that knowledge.
